Episode 11: Are there specific doctrines I should teach my children before they leave home? If so, what are they? (Part 2 – Doctrine of the Word)

Episode highlights:

  • Scripture is perspicuous, that is, it is clear and can be understood.
  • To the charge of circular reasoning – using the Scriptures to ground the authority of the Scriptures – we say that any search for truth must terminate in a final objective source of that truth, which is the Bible.
  • Good resources for learning and teaching these truths to our kids are Wayne Grudem’s Systematic Theology and Bible Doctrine and Bruce Ware’s Big Truths for Young Hearts.
  • We can implicitly teach our children about the nature of Scripture by how we revere, handle, and obey it ourselves.
